The Hill is soon to be alive with the sound of music . . .
The 34-year-old Indian Hill Music, currently located in Littleton, is constructing a state-of-the-art music school and performance venue on 110-acres off old Ayer Road overlooking its namesake ā Indian Hill. On Monday, Indian Hill CEO Lisa Fiorentino, founder Susan Randazzo, and Project Manager Gary Shepherd gave me and State Rep. Sheila Harrington a tour of the construction site.
The 126,000 square-foot project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2022.
The non-profit music school and home of the 70-member Orchestra of Indian Hill currently serves 79 communities in Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, hosts 38 professional performances a year, more than 200 student performances and teaches 1,300 students of all ages, as well as providing off-site outreach and music education in public schools in Fitchburg, Ayer-Shirley, and Lawrence.
The new location, with state-of-the-art acoustics will include a 300-seat recital hall, 35 studios for lessons, and the shining gem ā a 1,000 seat performance hall that opens to allow for 1,300 additional lawn seats for summer concerts.
The new location will become a major cultural destination (like a smaller-scale Tanglewood), spurring economic development throughout the region, bringing music lovers to restaurants, shops and establishments like the Groton Inn.
Iām looking forward to watching the construction proceed and cannot wait to see the first performance there!
